420 Stain Resistant Steel
The 420 stain resistant steel used provides a superior blade stock.
It is one of the best edge holding and corrosion resistant steels available
for a working blade. These blades have a brushed satin finish and are designed
to be used. Originated in Germany, this steel has a higher carbon
content than stainless, and has been labeled as "stain resistant". The steel
falls in between high carbon steel (1084 tool steel) and low carbon steel
(440C stainless steel). The combination of carbon and chromium steel produces
excellent edge holding characteristics needed for a working hunting tool. The
54-56 Rockwell hardness, in combination with the blade design, will reduce
muscle stress and fatigue generated during extended periods of fieldwork.
KNIGHTEDGE™ blades have been designed by
experts to make your hunting experience less strenuous and more productive.
This steel maintains a superior edge even after use on one to three big game
animals.
This special 420 steel is a new crucible powder-metallurgy steel with 2.38%
carbon, 13.8 % chromium and 0.5% vanadium. Fine particles of steel are
solidified rapidly, forming small carbide crystals that create durability,
hardness, and an incredible edge holding ability.
